From Seattle to Prague to Gothenburg the problem of violence is often almost completely dominated all discussion of the merits of anti-globalization movement. Come lui propose, se ci indirizziamo alla psicologia, i bisogni e le paure dei nostri oppositori (mai "nemici" - Gandhi mantenne sempre un rispetto reciproco nelle sue lotte), potremmo arrivare ad una strategia che funziona.
Da Berlusconi in poi, quelli dei G8 credono veramente che stanno percorrendo la strada giusta, e sono anche convinti della necessità di garantire che la riunione dei G8 vada avanti e che il (suo) governo mantiene il (suo) ordine.
Per quanto riguarda la polizia ed i soldati, loro vogliono sopratutto seguire gli ordini (è quello il loro lavoro), non dimostrare la paura o la disubbedienza verso i loro colleghi/compagni, e neppure verso i manifestanti. Crediamo che preferiscono evitare gli scontri, se non vengono provocati.
Lontano dalla Zona Rossa e dagli attivisti militanti, la paura di noi pacifisti sarà marginalizzata. Ci verrà tolto il diritto di esprimere our discontent with a system that is causing suffering and destruction, and will be strengthened instead of fear, but to remain passive and senz'effetto.

1. Formare una Zona di Pace, un sit-in a 24 ore al giorno lungo il confine della Zona Rossa - un buffer tra le forze che minacciano la violenza.
2. Si invita i partecipanti del sit-in di fare un digiuno di tre giorni, per sacrificare il nostro nutrimento per entrare in un'altra "zona mentale" of resistance, reflection and meditation is our own violence, and on that of others, and the system. What better way to show solidarity in comparison with a system of food distribution that causes every 3.25 seconds someone's death by starvation?
3. A University of roads on the edge of the Red Zone, and in parks, streets and squares, to open the dialogue for the teach-in, to enjoy the best that the movement we can offer - poetry, music, dance, theater, etc.. - To engage (and the media) in a festival atmosphere for the exchange of ideas. This is a program that can work. Of course se risulta che ci impediscano ad eseguirlo, essere arrestati pacificamente ed imprigionati potrebbe essere di più impatto di uno scontro per strada. Il nostro messaggio centrale è sempre che il movimento contro la globalizzazione è ispirato dall'immaginazione e che la resistenza nonviolenta è una forza potente (amore) capace di ispirare la gente e darle la speranza che cambiare pacificamente è possibile. L'altra alternativa, quella della violenza e degli scontri, non può dimostrare questo. Dobbiamo domandarci - quali sound-bytes, quali immagini nei mass-media, aiuteranno a noi ed al movimento?
