seems like there are many ways to consider the events in New Orleans.
I always liked
Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols) and his way of doing, especially when it came out suoa the song "Anarchy in the UK . Now, as you can think of to ' anarchy among the flooded streets of poor Louisiana, for a good thing? The word is one of those words from the many nuances that buy different meanings for different people. And is used especially when there is a situation of chaos. Like the press vehemently denouncing the anarchist groups as "insurrectionary anarchists" (like "anarchist" Black Block, whose actions can not stand!). This site is not to talk about the historical roots of the term, much less the history of the anarchist movement, its philosophy and the number of modest successes have (see Kronstadt, Russia 1920, Seattle, early 1900; Barcelona during the English Civil War). And I'm not interested in semantic discussions with journalists, right or Marxists. What I want to talk about is how this disaster, this horrible plague of destruction that Hurricane Katrina and the chaos that ensued, highlighting the question of who we are to each other within the company , the modern state (government), the role of coercive authority, and also what we might call the human spirit in these situations. More specifically the crisis calls into question the role of the individual and society. These are for my own fields of speech when we talk about anarchy.
plague: the great mad French poet and theater artist and theorist, Antonin Artaud , used the term "plague" as a metaphor, and keyword, or the plague as a means through which social forms are revealed for what they really are: hypocrisy, where a fundamental role is played by violence and where the banality of everyday life and everything related to its dullness help prop up the fragile form of social order. And also, when the individual faces a crisis or a struggle between life and death and the only desire is to survive. And in such situations will also reveal the huge explosion of the driving forces of everyday life: desire, craving for money, sex, power and ego.

What is important when there is a crisis? What became fed our ideas about government, religion, philosophy, prestige, property and power? In a major crisis all structures of power and culture are laid bare and shown for what they really are: illusions, peel of thoughts and ideas. Just words! And finally when confronted by brutality, violence, ruthlessness, cruelty, as happens in emergencies, to use a saying: What are the real colors?
If what happened in New Orleans we are surprised at the lack of law, if we are shocked by the vices of individuals, dismayed by the rampant racism, affected by the inefficiency of the government, disgusted by the media who are capitalizing on the suffering, amazed by ' idleness of our president, baffled by the absurd and ridiculous opinions expressed in the newspapers or the internet ... if we have that, then probably Katrina, is the awakening of our sleeping consciences. The immensity of the tragedy and the loss of countless people leads us to ask who we are as people e nazione e come abbiamo potuto fallire così miseramente.
Dall’altro lato abbiamo un mucchio di città coexisting peacefully creating, helping, working, loving, despairing, hoping and dying: millions, including poor through their own innate goodness going on. Now, and is a great time, in our culture, what are the prevailing ideas that guide and influence the behavior and choices of the masses?
If we think of "Big Brother ," and other reality shows, for example, where lie maneuver and compete in short fuck his neighbor .. is the way to win. If we examine the prevailing currents of thought that says that being greedy and selfish is the only way to move forward on this earth, if we look at the conflicts commit violence and where the next attack is justified, if we see that going forward in the world means to pound your feet to your co-worker, if we learn that the value of a man depends on how much money from his own status symbols, we can ultimately see that many if not most of our so called culture is based on competition, greed and selfishness. With this type of messages that we are inculcated from all over (not to mention that the NRA has given the possibility of holding a weapon for defense that is like saying that killing in self-defense is right) as it actually possible to believe that the reactions to New Orleans catastrophe are present the best features of our culture? In short, a crisis does come out or the best or the worst in us. We are to blame and not Bush, the government, not racism or Yahoo's media. We have not taken the steps necessary to build a responsible nation. What we teach: every man for himself or all for one and one for all ?
Finally: The other night I saw "Meet John Doe " by Frank Capra. The story of a social political movement outside the main movements. The story of a rural movement that seeks to help even those who have nothing, who teaches how you can know and not ignorare il proprio vicino (cosa che accade in America).
Quando accade un disastro (Which is possible today due to the energy crisis, ecological and economic), we can see the huge gap between our professed ideas and ideals and the reality of actions and reactions. You can not live only talk but action is needed: with our neighbor, the stranger, the immigrant, people of different color, religion and sexuality. Walking together rich and poor. Hoping that the rich and the many who emulate their ethics and morals want to leave this culture of privilege and the ego that continues to divide us.
It's time to start preparing. It is asking too much?
